Deonte Dupree Tate, Sr., age 35, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, due to an untimely and tragic accident.
He was born on September 12, 1988, in Erie, to Andrea Harris and Benjamin Tate (Alicia).
Deonte was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He loved sports, gambling, cooking, clothing, sneakers, hats, playing pool, grilling, taking vacations, watching his daughter’s basketball games and smelling good. He also enjoyed family and friends. Deonte took care of everyone and had a heart of gold. He was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. He was loved by many. Deonte was cherished and loved all his nieces, nephews & grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his uncle, Mario Harris; grandfather, Godfrey Harris; grandmother, Francis McCullum; aunt, Pamela Williams; grandfather, John Tate, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his loving fiancé, Kristy Gamble; daughter, Giaunna Tate(10); son, Deonte Jr. Tate(7); brother, Shannon Mathis, of Erie, PA and Benjamin Tate Jr., of Bloomington, IN; sisters, Shanique Mathis, Shataya Mathis and Niasha Tate, all of Erie, PA, Tarenza Pacley, of Dallas, TX, Rachel Pope, of Philadelphia, PA, Courtney Tate, of Akron, OH and Tyra Tate, of Cleveland, OH. He also loved his stepchildren as his own, Breeona Wisniewski, Precious Hudson, Tyrone Cooley, Erikah Maxwell, Dominique Gamble & Donnell Gamble III and his two loving grandchildren, Santino Moore and Amiyllah Cooley. He is further survived by grandmothers, Zettie Harris and Larcenia Tate (“Lollipop”) and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Friends may call at the First Good Samaritan A.M.E. Zion Church, 3209 Pennsylvania Avenue, on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Alonzo Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
