Deloris Lucas

October 5, 1951 — January 30, 2022

Deloris “Dee” Lucas, age 70, of Fairview, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Sunday January 30, 2022 from cancer.

Dee was a graduate of Fairview High School class of 1970 and lived in Fairview most of her life.

Dee left an indelible mark on each of the families she was blessed to share, including the Cash, Wade, Lucas, Harrington, and Munch families. Countless others who sat at Dee’s table over the years were considered “family” by her; she always had an open door and an open heart. She will be missed by every one of them and remembered as someone who worked hard and played hard.

She was preceded in death by her parents Angelo and Catherine Cash; her brothers Robert and Larry and her sister Christine Cash; and her infant granddaughter Anna Catherine Chase.

She is survived by her childhood sweetheart, William Munch; by her brothers, George and Michael Cash; her sisters, Janice Munch, Patty Lepiane, Shari Keller, and Marlene Wade.

Dee found joy in simple things, most of all in spending time with the people she loved. She was happiest around her many grandchildren who she called her ‘Earth angels’.  Dee’s greatest sense of pride was in her children, Renee Wahlenmayer (Patrick), Rebecca Banish (Christopher), Vincent Lucas (Danielle), Ashley Chase (Michael), and Ryan Lucas (Vicky). She did not have a favorite.

Her working years began and ended at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Unit G, and though she held other positions over the years and in different places, she was always a Caregiver.

Dee was a really fun person with a great sense of humor. She was ‘naturally pretty’ and didn’t wear makeup, preferring to be outdoors in any kind of garden. She enjoyed fishing, being at the lake, and mowing the lawn. She had a fondness for animals and a kindness for people. She also loved to go out for breakfast with friends or her grandkids and always picked up the tab.

Dee believed in Jesus Christ and his salvation; she did not fear when her time came. (Deuteronomy 31.8)

A special thank you to the staff at AHN Cancer Center and Dr P. Tayshetye for helping Dee have time with her family and to travel to see places she had read about in books. “Imagine if I had read more books!”- Dee Lucas
