Debra Moore-Fox, 63, passed away on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022. Debi was born in Erie on May 2nd, 1958, and was a devout Christian, a lifelong caregiver, and a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and prayer warrior.
She was an extremely loving woman, an amazing cook and baker, an avid reader, and a woman of faith. She always had a recipe to tinker with or a home decorating project to work on. She loved bold, bright colors and jewelry that sparkled. She had an app on her phone to track bad weather/get lightning alerts and would call her adult children to warn them about thunderstorms and to make sure they dressed warmly. She was not too thrilled by the internet until she discovered she could stream music, join faith-based communities online, and argue religion with strangers in the comments of YouTube videos, which she demanded her children read and affirm she’d clearly won.
She was a blessing to those who knew her – always ready to provide comfort, empathy, and support. She was the primary caretaker for her son, Joshua, his whole life, before becoming a professional caregiver for the Barber Center and Lakeshore Community Services, and eventually caring for her husband in the last few years of his life.
Debi is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Fox; her son, Joshua Fox; and her parents, Robert and Jeanne Moore; as well as numerous beloved pets (most recently Delilah & Doozy). She is survived by her bereft children, daughter Liana Walczak (Cleveland) and son Matthew Fox and wife Jenny Warner Fox (Erie); her brother Dale Moore (Erie); her sister Pamela King and husband Rick King (Erie); her nieces Jamie King (Erie) and April Fernald and husband Heath Fernald (Moyie Springs); her dog Sassy; her online brothers and sisters in Christ of Susan Waldrop Ministries; her many dear friends and extended family members; and the absolute joy and treasures of her life: her grandbabies Elise, Mekka, and Malachi. All of us will miss her deeply.
Her family and friends will celebrate her life with a picnic later in May. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Muscular Dystrophy Association, https://mda.donordrive.com/, in her honor.
