Deborah Mathis

Deborah Kay Hammel Mathis, age 67, of Erie, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Altoona, PA on February 5, 1954, a daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Benson) Hammel.

She was a supervisor at Plastek for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sonny Mathis; an infant sister Anita Jane Hammel, who died at birth; and a sister Sherry Guyer.
She is survived by a daughter, Melissa Rininger; a granddaughter, Ashley (Greg Little) Rininger and a great grandson, Bradley Greco; a great granddaughter, Kaylee Mae Little; all of Erie; a step-daughter Brenda McMillen, of Erie; two step-sons, David (Debbie) Mathis; of OH, and Douglas (Becky) Mathis, of Erie; and two step-grandchildren, Kyle Mathis and Nicole McMillen; a sister, Patty (Tom) Ritchey of Claysburg, PA; a brother, Ron (Marilyn) Hammel of Clinton, PA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and her loving dog Saddie.
