David James Williams, Jr., 55, passed away unexpectedly January 3, 2023 at the Walnut Creek Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 1, 1967, in Erie, the son of David J. and Willie Belle (Cooper) Williams.
In addition to his father, David is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Emma Belle Cooper. He is survived by his mother, Willie ‘Jackie’ Williams, sister Denise Williams (Bill Cavaliere) of Florida, two brothers Darel Williams (Mara Johnson), and Dennis Williams (Sarah Wijkowski). He is further survived by nieces and nephews, Paul and Summer Rodrigues, Jaden and Kalea Williams, Maxwell Williams, Skylar Rodrigues and a host of other relatives.
David graduated from East High School, Class of 1985, and he earned his Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Edinboro University. Prior to his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, David was a dedicated employee of the Barber Institute for over 10 years where he worked compassionately with children and adults with disabilities. He was an Usher at Holy Trinity and he loved his church family. David appreciated time and spirited conversations with the deacons at church functions and visits at his home. He volunteered and shared his time and wisdom with younger members of the church, and he genuinely supported and inspired others.
Prior to his diagnosis, David enjoyed working out, traveling, cooking, sports, and relaxing at Presque Isle in his car listening to music. Even as his mobility declined, he was devoted to spending time with family and friends. He truly enjoyed time with his niece and nephew, Summer and Paul, and several close friends (especially from Bird Drive). David loved his family and he read his bible daily. He loved the hip-hop culture and kept current with relevant topics and MC’s. David led a clean life that included no swearing, but he enjoyed weekly visits from his special friend, Alberto Ramos for their ‘Talkin -ish (unfiltered)’ sessions, listening to music, and catching up on life in general.
The family would like to send a special ‘Thank You’ out to Lisa Graham, Christie Stewart, Paul Rodrigues, Jackie Cooper, Walnut Creek Rehabilitation staff and nurses, Community Resources for Independence and their entire staff for their love, care, and compassion for David throughout the years.
