David "Wayne" Natcher, 59, of Springboro, passed away at the beautiful home he built on Sunday morning, March 30th, 2025. He battled five years with cancer, a relentless fight against odds he repeatedly defied. Eight surgeries, more chemotherapy than anyone should endure... yet, cancer stole him piece by piece, long before it took his life.
Wayne was a man of immense character, a force of nature with a heart to match. His ingenuity and problem-solving skills were legendary, honed by 39 years as a dedicated semi-truck driver, both locally and across the country. He found solace and joy in the outdoors, sharing his passion for hunting, fishing, and exploring nature with those he loved. Wayne competed in High-power National Silhouette Championships for multiple years. He was a generous soul, dedicating countless hours to customizing sleds for the Shriners' sled hockey team. He was known as a Good Samaritan to many.
We're left with a lifetime of memories, a man larger than life, his heart even bigger. A mind that could fix anything. Those hands, capable of miracles, grew still, and the vibrant man we knew retreated, even from us.
Wayne was a devoted partner to his sweetheart Susan Birkmire for 24 years. He was a loving father to his five living children: Ashley Mills (Ryan), Brett Birkmire (Nikki), Jamison Roth (Ashley), Jeremy King (Jennifer) , and Lindsay Joint (Steve). He cherished his nine grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Allen Natcher, and stepbrother, Christopher Erickson. Wayne was the son of the late Gerald James Natcher (Audrey) and Ethel Marie Erickson (Larry) He is survived by his siblings: Liesa Yeargan (Bryan), Holly Carter-Erickson, Susan Whiteman, Kimberly Edgett, and John William Natcher.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him
In accordance with Wayne's wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
