David Lee Spyker

September 3, 1955 — March 27, 2025

Revelation 14:13

“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

David Spyker age 69, passed from our world on March 27, 2025. He showed admirable and heroic strength to the end. Dave was a quiet, yet influential man of integrity who through his words and selfless actions has enriched the lives he touched.

David was born in Erie, PA, on September 3rd, 1955, son of Ernest and Audrey Spyker (Hannah) of Harborcreek. He enjoyed a happy childhood full of outdoor adventures with his sister Cheryl and brother Dale. He graduated in 1974 from Harborcreek High School with a reputation for his athletic performances in baseball, basketball and football. As a man of many well-honed technical skills, he worked at Urick Foundry, Harborcreek Shurfine and as an HVAC Technician with Russo Heating and Cooling and TJ’s Heating and Cooling. He was a family gardener, carpenter and handyman. A man who could repair anything and had the love and patience to teach others.

David enjoyed all types of competition and sport. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, anchor of his bowling teams and family ping pong champ. He was a beloved family man, devoted and wonderful husband and father, a brother and friend to many. He was married to Lisa for 47 years and fathered two children, Katie and John. He coached girls basketball, boys baseball, wrestling at St. Boniface and was a Boy Scout leader.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Royer Spyker; sister, Cheryl Wolbert (Paul); brother, Dale Spyker; his children, Katie Russo and John (Jassel) of Yulee, FL and two grandchildren Fiona and Mark and dozens of nieces and nephews.

David was quick to provide assistance to anyone in need; the first to show and the last to leave when there was work to be done. His tireless work ethic, well placed words and dedication to his family, friends and neighbors have made him a mentor to so many that he was often referred to as a “second father”. He was an astute sounding board and trusted confidant. Although we are all saddened by the loss of such a wonderful man, we celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind in all of us. The world was a better place with David in it.

All are invited to celebrate his life and legacy at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA 16510 on Tuesday April 1, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Gary Freel.
