David Schick

David J. Schick age 71, of Millcreek, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 surrounded by his family.
David was a 1965 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and then went on to serve 7 years in the National Guard 112 Infantry.
He began working construction and became a Master Electrician with Union Local 56 IBEW, and was also self-employed with Baer Electric. Later on he worked as an Electrical Instructor for triangle Technical Institute until his retirement.
Dave was an active member of Perry Keystone Lodge No. 392, Zem Zem Shrine since 1974. Starting with DeMolay, David was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite Consistory. In addition he was a member of the Shepard’s, Motor Corps, Cycle Corps, Past Chief of the Camel Herders, Quetzalcoatl, and Jesters of the Erie Country Shrine. Dave served as recorder of Zem Zem Temple for 7 years and in 1994 was named “Shriner of the Year by the Shriners Children’s Hospital and also involved in transporting children to the Cincinnati Shriners burn Hospital.
Dave was co-owner of DD&S Arms & Top Gun Indoor Shooting Range. He enjoyed Hunting, shooting, drag strip races and adventures with his family and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed classic car shows with his 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery “Taz”.
He loved to laugh and joke, play poker and socialize at the Cascade Club with his lifelong crew “Bill’s Buddies”. Lastly, he enjoyed long rides and spending time with his best friend and wife Sandi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Claira Schick; maternal grandparents, Walter and Lenore Baer; father, Marvin J. Schick; Matthew Schick, Tyler Covato, Barbara Schick and Jeffrey Schick.
He is survived by his wife Sandi Schick; daughter, Leslie Becker (Brian), daughter, Nikki Schick (Mike Beganics), mother, Betty Schick; brothers, Scott Schick, Don Schick (Linda) and Gary Schuck (Karen); sister, Shari Covato; grandchildren, Chelsea Kiser, Briana Kiser, Emma Becker, Austin Becker, Cameron Becker, Cameron Schick, Riley Schick, (Brookelynne Sabados); great granddaughter, Sophie Schick and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W, 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at 8:00 p.m. The Perry Keystone Lodge No. 392 F&A.M. will conduct Masonic services at 7:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or to the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation 707 W. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
