David W. "Whitie" Olson, 72, formerly of Grandview Manor, Davison Ave., died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Elmwood Gardens. He was born February 22, 1942, in Erie, son of the late John W. and Irene A. Johnson Olson. A 1961 graduate of Wattsburg High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Vietnam Era. He studied restaurant management at Mercyhurst University, worked for Lord Manufacturing for twenty years and most recently worked as a Mental Health Tech for Stairways for ten years retiring in 2004. Mr. Olson was a former member of Polish Falcons and the Siebenbuerger and Moniuszko Clubs. He enjoyed softball playing in the Industrial League, enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Barb Mashburn.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelly M. Amann and husband Paul of Erie; a son, Michael D. Olson of Chicago, IL; a brother, Donald J. Olson and wife Diane of Asheville, NC; two granddaughters, Sara and Alexeia Withrow of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street. Erie Crawford County Burial Detail will conduct military services at the funeral home Friday immediately following visitation. Memorial contributions to be designated to the family in care of the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Erie, PA 16502.
