David Eugene Noel, age 64, of Erie, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at his residence.
David was born in Erie on June 28, 1951 a son of Betty Jane (McCool) Noel and the late James Noel. He was a graduate of Harborcreek High School and attended ATES for technical computer training.
David was employed as a Customer Engineer with IBM for 33 years.
David was adventurous and will be remembered for his sense of humor and his pranks. He was an avid hunter and beekeeper. His extensive knowledge of bees allowed him to maintain his own bee colony in Cooperstown, PA. David was also very interested and knowledgeable with electronics and computers.
David was a member of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Beekeeper’s Association, was involved with the Jaycee’s in Erie, and he was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #29 of Marietta, GA, where he was the editor of their newsletter. He also was involved with riding for veteran services through the American Legion. David regularly attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Marietta, GA and also many Lutheran churches across the country.
David and his wife of 12 years, Olga, enjoyed traveling the United States in their R.V. and spent many months of the year traveling.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson Kobe Tyler New.
Along with his wife Olga, David is survived by his three children: Michelle (Dan) Kormos of Girard, Brian (Rachel) Noel of Union City and Laura (Danny) Morrissey of Erie.; two step-children: Carlos (Matika) Saldivar of Georgia and Jenni (Andy) Dassow of Georgia; 12 grandchildren and one brother: Robert J (Mooky) Noel of Erie.
Family and friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) Erie, PA Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are invited to attend services there Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice. David’s family asks that everyone also have a slice of pie in remembrance of him.
