David L. Mercer

David L. Mercer, age 69, of Erie passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at AHN St. Vincent. He was born July 27, 1955 in Weirton, W.VA the son of the late Earl Mercer and Mary (Highley) Burskey. 

David was a US Army veteran and was a school bus driver for the Erie School District

He was an avid golfer and always enjoyed a round a golf with his friends; Bob, Ralph, Dave, Roger and Dick. David was also a member of St. Paul RC Church and the Fairview American Legion Post 742.

Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his stepmother Geneva Mercer; his three brothers, Bill, Chuck, and Bobby Dale Mercer; two stepbrothers, Bobby and Jim Clark; his sister Betty Ann Oldaker; a sister-in-law, Earleen Mercer; and his in-laws, James and Anna D’Aurora.

David is survived by his wife, Debra (D’Aurora) Mercer; a daughter Melissa Hall and her husband Greg; two grandsons, Tyler Gregory and Carter Dean Hall and his furry companion, Max, all of Erie. He is further survived by his brothers, Rick Mercer and Joe Mercer and his wife Debbie along with a brother -in-law, Dencil Oldaker, all of New Cumberland, W. VA along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm with further visiting on Thursday in St. Paul’s RC. Church 1617 Walnut St. from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
