David John Litowkin

David “Dave” John Litowkin age 65, of Erie passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at UPMC Hamot, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Erie on September 29, 1959, and was the son of the late Barbara Williams Litowkin and Alex Litowkin.

Dave graduated from McDowell High School and attended Gannon University, where he played hockey at both institutions. He was a fierce, hardnosed competitor and typically led his teams in penalty minutes.

He was a highly successful, cutting-edge realtor who facilitated the sale and purchase of hundreds of homes, while working for multiple real estate companies throughout the Erie area. He also spent a number of years in the home appraisal business. Dave moonlighted for extra income as a stagehand at the Warner Theater and the Erie County Field House and continued his love of hockey as a referee for many years at the local rec league, club, high school and collegiate levels.

Dave spent many years riding motorcycles and competing in various motocross events throughout the tri-state area. He was also a big animal lover with a particular fondness for dogs and cats. He was an excellent cook and always showed up with plenty of food for everyone. He was known for a number of unique recipes and especially his version of Greek Sauce. Dave was also a drumming enthusiast and avid handball player and enjoyed playing regularly at the downtown Y. He loved to entertain and spend time with his family and friends. Dave had a wonderful sense of humor and was always the “life of the party” with his story telling ability. His adventuresome spirit and amazing sense of humor will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Sandor and Irene Verok, brother-in-law, Alex Verok, and stepmother, Nina Litowkin.

Dave is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Litowkin and his daughter, Alexandra Litowkin both of Girard, PA; a brother, Mike Litowkin and his wife Lisa of Plano, TX; a sister, Gretchen Tome and her husband Kevin of Erie; sister-in-law, Irene Hodack (Chuck) of West Springfield; nieces and nephews: Marissa, Matthew, Steven, Lydia, Andy and Nick and a step sister, Kathy Dubowski of Erie.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street on Thursday, April 17th from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.
