David Lester

David Lester, age 92, of Erie died on Saturday February 3, 2024. Born in Erie, PA on March 8, 1931 a son of the late Louis and Anna Linsk Lester.

David went to Garfield Grade School, Academy High School class of 1949 and graduated from Gannon College in 1953.

He was married to Beth Arnson Lester in 1955 the year he was discharged from the U.S. Navy Reserve after serving from 1950 to 1955. 

David was in Sales his entire life and was Co-Owner of Richard’s Shoes from 1972 to 2011.  He was a trumpet player and a member of Millcreek Community Band, Gem City Jazz, Gem City Concert Band, and Nautilus Fitness Club. David was also active with the synagogue, work and numerous other activities.

In addition to his parents, Louis and Anna, Dave was preceded in death by his wife Beth; two sisters, Betty Friedman and Beatrice Tanner; and brother William Lester. 

David is survived by his children, Geoffrey Lester of Erie, Robert Lester, of Los Angeles, CA and Martin Lester, of Austin, TX; and his grandchildren, Rachel Lester of Israel and Benjamin Lester of Los Angeles, CA. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Sybil Lester, of Plano, TX.

David was a member of Brith Sholom Congregation where he served as President of the Men’s Club; Vice-President of Brith Sholom Cemetery and a Board Member of Ohel Jacob Cemetery.

Services will take place on Wednesday February 7 at 11am at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St. followed by burial at Brith Sholom Cemetery with Rabbi Mark Goodman officiating.
