David L. Klakamp, age 77, of Waterford, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Zephyrhills, FL.
He was born on March 13, 1938 in Edinboro, PA, son of the late Earl and Edith Conrow Klakamp.
David was employed as truck mechanic for the Hammermill Truck Fleet, Mercyhurst College and Cable Masters.
David was a member of the Lawrence Lodge #708 F. & A. M.; the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Erie; and the Zem Zem Temple Shrine serving on the Directors Staff and Arab Patrol. He regularly volunteered at Shriners Hospital for children specializing in wheelchair maintenance. He was a long time member of Abiding Hope Lutheran Church (formerly Our Savior’s).
David was avid about keeping his lawn and home meticulously maintained with his John Deere tractors. He also looked forward to deer hunting with his son and grandson. He adored his Boston Terriers Billy and Lulu.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Boyd E. and John B. Klakamp.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Esther (Knobloch) Klakamp, a son David E. Klakamp(Karen) ; a daughter Donna J. Klakamp ; a grandson Brian D. Klakamp all of Waterford, Pa; two sisters Lucille (Leal) Sickafus of Hermitage, PA and Irene (Roger) Owens of Erie; and a brother Robert Klakamp of Springcreek, PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to attend a service there on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Reverend John Coleman officiating.
Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery
