David Newell Hirsch, age 86, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born January 15, 1927, in Donora, PA, a son of the late Rubin Hirsch, from the Ukraine and Fanny Wayne Hirsch, of Pittsburgh.
David was the youngest of 3 boys, Wally in the middle and Arnold the oldest.
David graduated from Denora High School in 1944 and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1948, going on to study law there, graduating from law school in 1950.
He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on July 9th, 1946.
He married Marilyn Hirsch, from Pittsburgh, and they had three children, Sharon (the oldest), Carolyn and Eric. The family re-located to Tallahassee, Fla., where David worked as an attorney with the Municipal Code Corp.
David re-married Audrey Heil in Erie in 1998; Audrey passed away in 2011.
David was dedicated to his profession and to the temple. He was an accomplished pianist.
Survivors include his three children and his first wife, Marilyn.
Friends are invited to graveside services at Anshe Hesed Cemetery, 26th and Poplar Street on Sunday, May 19th at 2 p.m. with Rabbi John Bush officiating.
