David (Gus) A. Harthan age 76, of West Springfield passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 peacefully at his residence.
He was born in Erie, on December 5, 1944 a son of the late John B. and Sylvia Linhart Harthan.
Gus was a graduate of Northwestern High School. He owned and operated his own demolition business for many years. He loved running his equipment and teaching his son and grandson Anthony how to operate heavy equipment. His family meant the world to him, he enjoyed his time driving with grandson David back and forth to doctors’ appointments. He also loved when all his grandchildren were together. He also looked forward to his sister’s visits with his nephew Craig each summer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Clyde Porter and a granddaughter Annie Swartz.
David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Lutch Harthan; his children: Tina (Dan) Swartz of W. Springfield; Debra (John) Olesnanik of lake City; Aaron (Maure) Harthan, of Girard; Darrin Coppola of Morgantown, WV; his sister, Claudia (Joe) Jones of Scottsdale, AZ; six grandchildren: Anthony (Rachael) Swartz; David and Daniel Swartz, all of W. Springfield; Noah Olesnanik of Lake City; Avery and Alex Harthan both of Girard; many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held later this summer. Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard.
