David Dubowski

March 3, 1987 — July 31, 2017

David James Dubowski, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, in Boynton Beach, Florida. David was born March 3, 1987, in Erie, son of James and Linda Dubowski.

He attended grade school at Holy Family School and graduated from Mercyhurst Preparatory School in 2005.

David developed a love for and interest in cooking during high school while working at Patrick’s Family Restaurant. He earned an associate degree in culinary arts from Mercyhurst Northeast in 2009. He continued his culinary career at the Erie Club, where he worked his way up to sous chef. Last year, David moved to Boynton Beach, where he worked as a cook at Prime Catch restaurant and spent his free time enjoying the beach and snorkeling.

David always remembered his family and friends in Erie. He frequently, if not daily, called his mother to check on her and the rest of his family. David was sweet, kind, caring, thoughtful, and loving. He had a strong work ethic, and cared for his friends and coworkers just as much as he cared for his family. He was the first to help anyone in need and always thought of others before himself. He was a friend of NA in Florida.

David was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Browns and Indians. He loved listening to music, playing guitar, spending time outdoors, hunting, camping, and hiking.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Stanley Dubowski, Fred Tidd, and William Rogers; uncle, Peter Dubowski, and aunt, Elizabeth Beck.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Melissa Dubowski Hamilton, her husband, Michael, and their son, Ford; grandmothers Shirley Tidd and Helen Dubowski; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  David’s friends and family will forever remember his smile, which brightened everyone and everything around him, his positive attitude, and especially the impact that he had on their lives and the love that he gave during his life.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of  prayer service at 12:30 p.m.
