David P. Duberow Sr., of Fairview, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Fairview Manor following a brief illness.
David was born in Erie on July 13, 1953, son of the late Paul J. and Ruth Walter Duberow.
He was a 1973 graduate of Fairview High School and the Erie County Vo-Tech School. He worked for the Fairview School District in maintenance for over 41 years.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church, where he belonged to the Holy Name Society and volunteered at the Lenten fish dinners for many years. Dave's passion was the fire service, and it was a lifelong dedication for him. He served his community by volunteering with Fairview Fire and Rescue for over 50 years, acting as chief and president of the board on several occasions. He was also a member and past president of both the Erie County Firefighter’s Association and the Firefighter’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania. He served as Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Fairview Township for over 30 years and was a company Captain of the Crawford and Erie County State Police Company #5. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan Downing Duberow; two sons: David Duberow, Jr. and his husband Nick of Eureka, Ca.; and James Duberow, his wife Jordan, and his granddaughter Quinn of Pittsburgh; a sister: Deborah Duberow of Erie; a brother: Donald Duberow of Fairview; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St., Girard from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday May 3, 2024. Services will include a fireman's prayer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7100 West Ridge Rd., Fairview on Saturday at 10:00am, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery.
