Darlene Hunt

March 19, 1947 — December 5, 2013

Darlene “Dee” Hunt, 66, of Girard, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 19, 1947, the daughter of the late Morris and Loraine DeYoung.

She attended Mercyhurst College and was a certified interpreter in sign language for the deaf. She also worked as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant Ridge West. Darlene belonged to the Church of the Nazarene in Albion. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, flowers, crafting, teaching young people how to bowl and in her later years volunteering at the Erie City Mission.

She is survived by a daughter, Heidi Heintzel and her husband Jason of Erie; a son, Scott Hunt of Ohio; grandchildren: Alexis and Zac Heintzel. Also survived by two brothers: Morris DeYoung and his wife Nancy of Rochester, NY and Dennis DeYoung of Lockport, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home Girard, 525 Main St. East, Monday 12-2pm until the time of the service at 2 pm. Burial will be in Girard Cemetery.
