D. Shearer

Delbert “Ray” Shearer age 79, of Albion, passed away, Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital.

He was born in Albion, Pa on April 30, 1938, the son of the late Delbert R. and Shirley Church Shearer.

After graduating from Albion High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years and then went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard, where he served 16 years. Ray served as an Electronics Technician. During his enlistment, he was stationed in Saipan, Mariana Island, Northern and Southern California as well as many other places. After retiring from the Coast Guard, Ray was a mail carrier for the Albion Post Office for 17years.

Ray enjoyed going to the casino, loved to golf and follow football and other sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters in infancy.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Kireta Shearer; a brother Arnold “Herk” Shearer; a sister Darcie Ann O’Barski and many nieces and nephews.

Service were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard.
