Cynthia Crawford

Cynthia C. Crawford, age 54, of Pittsburgh died on May 11, 2013 at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

Born on February 25, 1959, she was the daughter of Marion L. (Horton) Crawford and the late Norbert B. Crawford, Jr.

She was a 1977 graduate and Valedictorian of Villa Maria Academy. She graduated Cum Laude from Allegheny College, received her Masters of Science at North Carolina University at Chapel Hill and obtained her law degree from Central University School of Law in North Carolina.

Cynthia was an expert in information privacy with over 20 years in privacy risk management. She was the lead Privacy Attorney for Philips Home Healthcare Solutions. She also worked for many years for GlaxoSmithKline as an IT Risk Manager and Global Corporate Privacy Manager. Cynthia was a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional- Government (CIPP/G).

Cynthia loved to read, especially science fiction. She was a huge Star Wars fan. She loved animals and followed many nature web-sites, especially the live web pictures of the baby Panda at the San Diego Zoo.

Along with her father, Cynthia was preceded in death by a niece, Rebecca Lynne Coleman and her beloved Corgi's Liam and Willow.

Survivors include her mother, Marion, and sisters, Diane Coleman and her husband Steve of Titusville, Pa. and Mary Ellen Buchheit and her husband Mike of Apex NC; a nephew Neil Coleman and twin nieces Katherine and Margaret Buchheit. Friends are invited to call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Very Rev. John J. Detisch, V. F. , celebrant.

Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
