Cora “Corie” Madeline Mooney, age 51, passed away peacefully on Sunday,February 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a short illness.

She was born in Erie on October 26, 1964, a daughter of Thomas Strange and the late Polly Fouch Strange.

In addition to her mother, Polly, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Strange; a granddaughter, Natalie Appleton; and her niece, Sheila Strange.

She attended Northwestern High School. Corie enjoyed scrapbooking. Her family was very important and meant the world to her.

Corie is survived by her five children: Jeff Mooney of Girard, Eric Mooney and his wife, Destiny of Edinboro, Emily Appleton and her husband Damon of Girard, Luke Mooney and Nathan Mooney, both of Albion; her father, Thomas; four brothers: Edward Strange and his wife, Cheryl of Girard, George Strange and his wife Theresa of Albion, James Strange and Charles “J.R” Strange, both of Erie; five sisters: Mary Taylor and her husband Roy, and Barbara Gordon, all of Girard, Emma Keith and her husband Ron of Linesville, Debra Start and her husband Lewis of Springboro and Judy Gariepy of Platea; five grandchildren: Jacob and Chelsea Mooney, Brooke and Ryleigh Appleton and Benjamin Mooney. She is further survived by her companion of 18 years, Greg Younkin and his daughter, Meagan Younkin; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, in Girard on Thursday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1p.m. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.
