Clyde W. Porter, of Girard, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Erie, a son of the late Reid and Mildred Williams Porter.
Clyde graduated from Girard Union High School. He retired from PHB in 2009 where he worked for over 45 years in hydraulic maintenance.
He was a former member of Girard Bethel Assembly of God. Clyde was a life long owner and driver of stock car racing. He raced cars since he was 17 years old. Clyde was on the Franklin Township Zoning board for many years. He was a member of the Edinboro/McKean VFW Post 740 and the Albion American Legion. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He also maintained Francis Cemetery for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard E. Porter.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kathleen âKCâ McKay Porter; three sons: Brett A. Porter of Girard, Aaron B. Porter and his wife Donette of Cambridge Springs and Kristopher M. Porter and his wife Kira of Edinboro; a daughter, Kylene M. Shaulis and her husband Steven of Bridgeville, PA; a sister, Donna Pfeffer of Fairview; a brother, Reid Porter and his wife Anna of Lake City; he is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard on Thursday from 3-8pm and are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday at 1pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Francis Cemetery.
