Claudie House

Claudie B. House, age 90, of Erie, PA, died Friday, December 26th, 2014 following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Laurel, Ms on December 19, 1924, a son of the late Rev. Claude House and Clara Mae Taylor House.

He attended Benson High School in Twanta, MS and later served in the U.S. Army from 1946 - 1950. After coming to Erie, he worked for 28 years as a forklift operator at Erie Malleable Iron Company. Claudie was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. He also sang in the Golden Bells and Silver Tones Quartet. He was also a coach for the Little Griddler Football and 3B Baseball Senior League. He played baseball in the Pony League and also enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his parents, Claudie was preceded in death by his sons, Claudie B. House, Jr., Henry House, Gregory House and Frank A. House. His brothers Oscar, Moscar and Jordan Howze and a sister Ruby Dora Benson.

He is survived by his spouse Elouise McWilliams House; six children Clara Darby, Douglas (Katrina)House, Gwendolyn House, Vivian House, Craig House and Maurice(Regina) House, all of Erie. Six siblings; Henry (Rebecca) Howze, Abram Howze, all of Erie; Willie (Marie) Howze of Greenville, NC, Jannie Mae Moffett of Atmore, Al., Katie Jones of Laurel, MS and Marie Vaughn of Jessup GA. Brother and Sister In-Laws; Namon (Brenda) McWilliam of Erie PA, Catherine Collin and Gloria Jean McWilliams of Ellisville, MS. 13 grandchildren, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23rd Street in Erie Pa on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm and are invited to attend services there on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 am with Reverend Duane Hunter officiating and Reverend Amos Goodwine, Sr. eulogizing.

Burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, 2601 Norcross Rd, Erie, PA.
