Claudia Spalla

Claudia (Sue) Lillian Spalla age 81, of Girard, and formerly of Canonsburg, PA passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, November 1, 2015 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Meadowlands, PA on December 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Harold (Pete) and Helen McCleary Arthur.

She graduated from Chartier Houston School District in 1951.

Claudia worked as a Nursing Assistant for the Canonsburg General Hospital, County Meadows Senior Care Residence and the American Cancer Society Washington, PA office.

She also worked for PA Green Thumb / Experience Works training and placing seniors in viable employment, she also worked for both the Salvation Army in Erie and City Mission Thrift Stores in Canonsburg, PA when she retired in 2011. She also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Claudia was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Joseph Spalla Sr.

She is survived by three children, Luann (Charles) Carnahan of Eighty Four, PA, Mark (Robin) Spalla of Erie and Lucian Spalla Jr. and his partner David Wolbert of Girard, PA; five grandchildren, James, Charles, Brian, Jennifer and Christopher; 7 great grandchildren; sister in law Mary Spalla Interval; and two nephews, John and Anthony (Amy) Interval all of Washington, PA.

Graveside service will be held at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Canonsburg, PA on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Harry Johns III. officiating.

Arrangements are under the care of the Burton Funeral Home 525 Main Street East, Girard, PA 16417.
