Claude Crenshaw, 73, of Erie, PA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Fairview Manor of kidney and heart failure.
He was born on October 19, 1945 in Greenville, AL to the late Wiley and Ebbie Lee (Moorer) Crenshaw, III.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira Lee and King Solomon Crenshaw.
Claude joined Braggs Hills A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age. He moved with his family to Lynch, Kentucky and joined Goode Temple Church. After moving to Newark, OH he joined Shiloh Baptist Church. Following high school, Claude worked for J.C. Penny in Newark, OH and transferred to Brooklyn, NY.
He moved to Erie, PA opening his own business in home renovation. Later joined the staff at Value City Furniture. Then after many years working for Time Werner, Claude retired.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist for many years. He was a member of the choir, Trustees Board, certified in food preparation for the church, member of the Missionary Society and Pastor’s Assistant.
He is survived by five sisters, Zola Mae (Rilous) Byrd of Newark, OH, Verncile Crenshaw, Helen Jean Franklin, Elizabeth (Claude) Cochran of Columbus, OH and Bettie Knight of Hilliard, OH; two brothers, Wade (Pasley) Davidson of Alabama and Wayne (Deanna) of Maryland and a very special friend, Jeffrey Smith of Erie, PA. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at Shiloh Baptist Church 901 E. 5th Street, Erie, PA 16507 on Friday, November 30th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
Claude’s final resting place will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, OH 43055 with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018.
