Clarence "Sonny" Louis Sontheimer, 74 of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1949, in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Sonny is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Sontheimer, and their children Amy and Andrew, Brittany and his grandchildren Ira and Violet. As well as his sister Susan Louth and her husband Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents C.L. Sontheimer, Mary Storten Sontheimer, and his sister Mary Edna Hayden.
Sonny was a man of great character, known lovingly as 'Butchie' by his family. He had a big personality. His kindness and love shined throughout, putting his loved ones first before himself. He would go above and beyond for their well-being and happiness. He was kind to everyone he encountered.
Through high school and beyond Sonny took much pride in his family's Bakery that still continues to be in operation today. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army from 1968-1971. He was stationed in Germany and Vietnam. He then returned to his family's bakery and joined the Laborer's Union 603 and worked for Mayer Brothers Construction Co for 30 years. Thereafter, he worked for the Yellow Cab company.
He loved music, golf, skiing, poker, ping pong, chess, and baseball. His love for baseball led him to organize within his community a baseball card trading show and auction in the 80's where he gathered with close friends.
His spontaneous travels and love for the open road brought him much joy. Always surprising where his family would go next.
The memories of Sonny's love and laughter will forever be cherished and close to our hearts. May the memories of Sonny's love bring comfort to all who mourn his loss.
