Clarence "Bill" W. Irish

Clarence “Bill” W. Irish, age 87, of Erie, passed away peacefully Monday, February 3rd, 2025, at Walnut Creek Nursing Facility.

He was born January 10th, 1938, in Erie, a son to the late Clarence Irish and Ruth Smith Irish Miller, stepfather, Herbert Miller.

Bill graduated from Tech High School, class of 1955. He married his loving wife, Sylvia A. Madison-Nielson on August 24, 1956. He worked as a Foremen at Erie Strayer Co. for 40 years. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and gardening. He was a member of the Church of the Cross. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, in 2017; three brothers, Donald, William, and Robert; a grandson, Matthew Irish; as well as a sister, Marilyn Appleton.

Bill is survived by a son, Robert Irish (Georgia); daughter, Melinda Miller (John); grandchildren, John Miller Jr. (Catie), Ryan (Donna) Irish, David (Emily) Miller, Beth (Sean) Cunningham; nine great-grandchildren, John Miller III, Isis, Athena, Vernon, Ella, Cian, Cora, Madison, and Raylan; two brothers, Gary Irish (Doris) and Jack Miller (Tara); as well as a brother in law, Clarence Madison.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Walnut Creek Nursing and Neighborhood, and UPMC Hospice for their care of Bill, especially Stacy, Danielle, Tom, and James.

Friends may call at the Church of the Cross, 5901 Millfair Rd., Fairview, PA 16415 on Thursday from 3 PM until the time of service at 5 PM. Private burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
