Clara Mangano

June 1, 1934 — April 14, 2018

Clara Maria Mangano, age 83, of Millcreek, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 at St. Vincent Health Center.

 

She was born on June 1, 1934 in the village of Rocca Pia, Italy, a daughter of the late Epifanio and Pasqua Leone.

 

Clara immigrated to the United States along with her parents at the age of 15 and lived on Plum Street in Erie. She later met Philip, who emigrated from Sicily, on the beach at Presque Isle. They soon married and remained together for over 60 years. Clara brought four children into the world and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker; she enjoyed crocheting and loved cooking, especially for her family. Clara loved spending time with family and so many friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

 

She is survived by her husband, Philip J. Mangano; her children, Renato Mangano and his wife Denise(Belluomini) of Ivoryton CT, Robert Mangano and his wife Teresa(Abatto) of Lewisburg, PA, Laura Mangano of Philadelphia, PA, Carla Bleil and her husband Andrew of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by 2 grandsons Michael and Nicholas, 6 granddaughters Erica, Rachel, Madeline, Kathryn, Grace, and Dana, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her older sister Giuseppina.

 

Clara will always be in our hearts, our prayers, our memories and our lives, until the day comes when we can join her in heaven. God bless you Clara, we will always love you.

 

Friends and family may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 4-7 pm and are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church, 2801 West 6th Street, on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with Reverend Richard J. Toohey officiating.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, monetary memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
