Erie

Christopher Skopow, age 72 of Erie passed away peacefully on Monday February 3, 2025. He was born August 2, 1951 to the late Henry and Dorothy Wierzchowski Skopow. Christopher was a beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend whose life was defined by his dedication to those he loved, his passion for aviation and his deep connection with animals.

His career began many years ago at the Boston Store, gradually working his way up to manager of receiving at Elder-Beerman and Bon-Ton, where he was known for his work ethic and kindness. His gentle nature and full head of hair did not go unnoticed. It was where he found the one thing that he loved more than aviation, his wife. He dedicated his life to his family, and was especially devoted to his wife, Barb, the love of his life. Together they shared a love for traveling and exploring the world one adventure at a time. Their bond was one that radiated love and joy to all that knew them.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara and his sister, Kathy Rohleder, who he missed dearly.

He’s survived by his sister, Barbara Kosin, whose love and support were cherished throughout his life.

Christopher had a lifelong love of airplanes and shared this enthusiasm with anyone who would listen. Even taking to the skies not only to travel, but also as a pilot himself. His love for sports and animals were equally strong. He cared deeply for his furry companions, always treating them with the same affection and kindness he showed to those around them.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to experience his warmth, generosity and love for life.

A private memorial service will be held to celebrate his life officiated by Sister, Karen Kosin OSB and Sister Christine Kosin OSB, with burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA 16510.
