Christopher Hoag

Christopher Stephen Hoag, age 40, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Erie on October 10, 1984, a son of Albert and Susan Hoag. 

Christopher had an unshakable belief in the Lord, a keen intellect, and a great talent and love for music. He played several instruments, as well as singing, rapping, and writing music across several different genres. He was a member of a number of local bands over the years such as Harmonic Desolation and Killdozer, and performed hip-hop under the name Soul R Messiah. 

He enjoyed politics and keeping up on current events. He was an excellent conversationalist, and his broad mind and insightful advice even led one close friend to dub him "Metal Sage", a name he also used in gaming. 

He was preceded in death by Paternal grandparents, John and Nancy Hawkins, Maternal grandparents Charles Reynolds Jr. and Ruth Reynolds Hill, and grandparent Earl Hill, a cousin, Alyssa Reynolds Sherman; and two uncles, Scott Hoag and Charles Reynolds III. 

He is survived by his parents, Albert and Susan Hoag; two sisters, Kelly Hoag and Lisa Hoag; an uncle and aunt, Kevin and Rhonda Reynolds; an aunt, Michelle Gleba; and cousins, Joshua Reynolds and his wife Jessica, Tyler Gleba and Katie Gleba. 

He leaves behind several friends, too numerous to mention, that he truly cared for.

He will be cremated, and no viewing is planned. Please feel free to share your favorite stories of Chris. This is something he would have enjoyed.
