Christine Pontoriero

Christine E. Pontoriero of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away after a brief viral illness at Punta Gorda Hospital in Florida on October 6, 2021.

 

Christine was born October 13, 1944 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of Joseph W. and Helen Blossey Pontoriero (Ponze). She was predeceased by her parents, her former husband Anthony Muldoon, brother Dr. Jack Pontoriero, brother-in-law William Jack and nephew Garrett Pontoriero.

 

A graduate of Mercyhurst Preparatory School, Christine attended classes at the Philadelphia College of Art and Rutgers University while living in New Jersey. Christine will always be remembered for her generous smile and way with words. She was an award winning free-lance photographer in the Philadelphia area, a court advocate and founder of the Erie chapter of MADD, a manager for guest services at Presque Isle Downs, a retail specialist in the family business Lizzy's Place and deputy marketing director for the Pennsylvania Lottery. Christine served on many boards while living in Erie, including: the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Metropolitan Erie and the Villa Maria Senior Complex. Always interested in politics, Christine was a fund-raising coordinator for many political campaigns from presidential  and congressional races to school board elections.

 

But her family will remember her for her fabulous cooking skills, her love of good jazz and her willingness to indulge every little whim of the youngsters in the family.

 

She is survived by her sister Mary Jo Jack of Port St. Lucie,  Florida, sister-in-law Frances Pontoriero of Erie, nieces Elizabeth Jack Waldrep of Sunrise, Florida, Karen Pontoriero Simpson of Rocky River, Ohio and nephew Evan Pontoriero of Petaluma, California and their families.

 

Christine will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Erie and a remembrance celebration will be held for family and friends at a later date in Erie. The family asks that donations in Christine's name be made to St. Luke Catholic School and Parish, 421 E.38th St., Erie 16504, where she spent many years as a eucharistic minister and CCD teacher.
