Christian Zimmerley

Christian Zimmerley, age 83, of Erie, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side, on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

He was born in Erie, PA September 22, 1938 a son of the late Eugene M. and Stephanie Loesch Zimmerley.

Christian graduated from East High School and served in the US Navy. He began his banking career in 1957 at Marine Bank and would work there for the next 40 years, retiring from PNC Bank in 1997. During that time he attended Bucknell University and graduated in 1977 from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. At the time of his retirement he was Vice Pres Branch Manager and Commercial Lending Officer. Throughout his banking career he was a member of many civic organizations: the Presque Isle Sertoma, Kiwanis, and the Times Old Newsies. He joined the Newsies in 1975 and would serve as Treasurer for over 25 years. He also served as President in 1999. He was a Life Member of the Erie Maennerchor and had been a member of Lawrence Park Golf Club for over 30 years. He took his love of golf to another level when he joined the Blind Golfers Assn as a coach for blind and nearly blind golfers.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Zimmerley in November of 2021, a son Jeffrey Zimmerley and several extended family members and life long friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Greene (Eric) of Denver, CO, Marcia Storten (Dave Krasinski) and Tina Zimmerley (Tom Gray). Six grandchildren, William and Olivia Storten, Amelia, Julia and Victoria Greene and Peter Williams, and a great-grandchild, Elliana. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Szeker.

Friends may call on Friday, March 18, 2022 at St Luke Catholic Church, 421 E 38th St, Erie PA from 10:30 until the time of service there at 11 am with the Reverend John Malthaner officiating.
