Cheryl Tufts

Cheryl Tufts, age 73, of Edinboro, passed away on July 8, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie, PA on November 7, 1949, a daughter of the late Rudolph Balsiger and Mary Anne Buoy Balsiger-Grumblatt.

Cheryl graduated from Strong Vincent High School. She earned her Associate’s Degree from Gannon University. She worked as an Administrator for APSCUF at Edinboro University.

Cheryl will be remembered for having a heart of gold. She accepted everyone and was a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved being around her family and friends.

Cheryl is a past Worthy Matron of Betsy Ross Chapter O.E.S.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald N. Tufts and a sister Dianne Reyes.

Cheryl is survived by her son Donald N. (Patty) Tufts, II. four daughters Michelle (Michael) Velez, Cheryl DeGeorge (Daniel) of Waterford, PA; Theresa Heim (Joseph) of McKean, PA; Vanessa Powell (Joe) of Edinboro, PA; eleven grandchildren, Amanda (Jay) Shuster, Kayla, Breanna and Meghan Gilson, Jennifer Heim, Michael and Tiara Velez, Kristen Hiscox, Haley Carter, Cody Rubinosky and Alexis Powell, five great-grandchildren, Ryland Lariccia, Mason Shuster, Olivia Nicholas, Aiden Mcgarvie and Jordan Fiala, a sister, Mary Lee (John) Blackwelder and a brother, Rick Balsiger, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton, Quinn, Scott Cremation & Funeral Service, Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, Erie, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, 2402 West Grandview Boulevard, on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Parsh officiating.
