Charles (Chuck) Henry Thomas, age 78, of Erie, left this earth to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Houston, MS on April 22, 1942, a son of the late Zedie and Girtlene Hill Thomas.
The Thomas family moved to Erie in 1955 and Chuck spotted the love of his life walking home from school and decided Patti was going to be his girl and it came to pass. They were inseparable since 1957, married in 1963, and had three beautiful children.
Chuck was a graduate of Academy High school, worked at Port Erie Plastics, Kaiser Aluminum, General Electric, and moved his family to Jackson, MS in 1978. For eight years he was part owner with his brother of a nightclub and a seafood processing plant and market, which serviced companies in Wisconsin, Illinois, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was known as grandad not only to his grandchildren but to their friends and their friend’s parents. Chuck gave his all to his family – just ask his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone that truly knew him.
Chuck loved music – jazz, blues, R&B from the 60’s and 70’s and some gospel. He had a lot of love from people from all walks of life because he was a loving, caring person and will be greatly missed as Mr. T, Pops, and especially Grandad.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Charles, on July 17, 2013; two brothers and two sisters.
He leaves to cherish him in memory, his loving wife of 57 years, Patti; a son, Eric L. Thomas, of Erie; a daughter, Marcia Elaine Blount and her husband, Marc, of Erie; daughter in law, Kimberly Ann Thomas, of Williamsport, PA; two brothers, Robert Lamar Thomas and his wife, Bonnie, of Jackson MS and Steve Henry Thomas and his wife, Tracie, of Erie; six grandchildren, Vershawn Tyler, of Jackson, MS; Marc Blount and his wife, Deja, of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael Blount and his wife, Kasey, of Charlotte, NC, Marshall Blount, of Erie, Dominique and Gabrielle Thomas, of Williamsport, PA; two great grandchildren, Miles, of NC and Aubrey, of MS; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a host of people that he loved and loved him from Williamsport, PA where his son lived.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremations & Funeral Services, Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th St., Erie.
