Charles W. "Chuck" Stolburg, age 81, of Millcreek, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Ridgway, PA on March 5, 1932 a son of the late Russell P. and Charlotte Forrester Stolburg.
He graduated from Millcreek High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Charles worked for the United States Postal Service for many years.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church since 1965 where he served on the Board of Trustees and many other committees. He also made many mission trips to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.
Charles was an avid traveler, and whenever there was a trip to take he was there and ready to go. He enjoyed golfing and going to dirt track races. He loved to build things and always had a project to work on.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Forrest and James Stolburg and a sister, Susan Policano.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances E. Mascaro Stolburg; three children, Lynda Walker and her husband Randall of Kennedy, NY, Steven Stolburg and his wife Jennifer of Oregon, and Valerie Bennett and her husband Timothy of Erie. He is further survived by nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church 4703 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506 with Rev. Dan Owen officiating.
Burial will follow in Asbury Church Cemetery.
