Charles Steinmetz

February 21, 1943 — January 20, 2019

Charles Peter “Pete” Steinmetz, 75, passed away on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, PA.   

Pete was born February 21st, 1943 in Erie, Pennsylvania.  He was the son of the late Charles Harry Steinmetz and the late Mary Jo Pratt Steinmetz.  

Pete attended Kemper Military Academy and graduated from Officer’s Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served his country proudly and with honor as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in Vietnam.  

He spent many years working in the automotive industry and retired from Qualsystems, Inc.  Pete volunteered with Hope on Horseback where his daughter had been a client for many years. Pete’s true joy was his children.  

He is survived by his beloved children, daughter Tiffany Elizabeth Steinmetz of Erie and son Andrew Peter Steinmetz (Aurora Braun Steinmetz) of Erie, and sister Mary Steinmetz Cassidy (Tom Cassidy) of South Carolina. 

Friends are invited to call at Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street, Erie, Pa. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with military honors to follow.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Hope on Horseback, 8342 Platz Road, Fairview, PA  16415.
