Charles Smith

Charles R. Linus Smith III age 57, of Fairview, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Montclair, New Jersey on September 5, 1958 a son of June Barbarula Smith and the late Dr. Charles Robert Smith Jr.

He graduated in 1976 from Mercyhurst Prep and received his BS in Computer Science from Gannon College. Charles worked as a computer programmer analyst for Troyer Farms for many years.

He was a talented stage performer and acted with Canterbury Feast, Mayhem Inc. and In All Seriousness as well as at many colleges and various venues throughout the greater Erie area. He also loved reading in science fiction and history.

In addition to his mother and his wife Carrie Berthold Smith, he leaves two daughters; Veronica Smith of Philadelphia, PA and Allison Smith of Fairview, PA. He also leaves four siblings: Paul L. Smith of Montclair, NJ, Anne Zientek of Salem, OR, Jean E. Rosenthal of Erie and Barbara Smith-Warner of Portland, OR. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will take place at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Saturday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with the service immediately following, officiated by the Reverend David Edmunds.

Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Pennsylvania Keystone Chapter, 2115 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
