Charles Mikesell

October 28, 1948 — September 26, 2013

     Charles A. "Chuck" Mikesell, 64, of Erie, died Thurs., Sept. 26, 2013, at UPMC Hamot.  He was born Oct. 28, 1948 in Jerome, PA, son of the late Clyde C. Mikesell, Jr. and Dorothy Kelly Mikesell.  A 1965 graduate of Tech Memorial High School, he attended Edinboro University and was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during the Vietnam Era.  Chuck worked for Performance Castings and more recently for CSI Industries, retiring in 2011.  Following retirement he worked for Country Fair Express on W. 26th St.  A marathon runner, he was a three time participant in the Groundhog Fall 50, a 50 mile run outside of Punxsutawney, PA.  He enjoyed biking and in 2011 rode his bicycle across the Trans-America Trail from Virginia to San Francisco.  He also enjoyed snowshoeing.  Chuck was an active member of Lake Pointe Community Church and loved spending time with his family.
     He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Kaye and two brothers, William Mikesell and Clyde Mikesell III.
     Survivors include four children, Kelly M. Rivera, Amanda L. Mikesell and her companion Kevin Hart, and Joshua C. Mikesell, all of Erie, and Rachel L. Prozan of McKean; a sister, Lorraine Buzzanco of Erie; two brothers, Regis Mikesell, Sr. and wife Vonda and James Mikesell and wife Alice, all of Saugus, CA; six granddaughters, Karly Rivera, Allison Janke, Sara Woods, Libby Woods, Kendall Janke, and Langston Hart; four grandsons, Justin Rivera, Steven Soliwoda and wife Hillary, Nathan Rivera, and Brandon Janke; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
     Friends may call Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St.  A service will be held there Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ashley L. Shook of Lake Pointe Community Church officiating.  Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps and Erie Crawford County Burial Detail.
