Charles H. McDonald, 84, of Erie, died Fri., May 11, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born June 6, 1927 in Erie, son of the late Roy T. and Margaret Bradford McDonald. A 1944 graduate of St. Vincent High School, he was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army. He earned a Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Mr. McDonald was an accountant for General Electric Corp. for over 35 years. He attended St. John's Lutheran Church and St. Paul's United Church of Christ, was a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and G.E. Retirees Assoc., and was a former member of Lawrence Park Country Club and East Erie Turners. He enjoyed golfing and walking at the peninsula.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Hazel Doris Rider McDonald in 1995; a daughter, Nancy E. McDonald; two sisters, Mary McDonald Donnelly and Jean M. McDonald Olson; and a brother, Roy E. McDonald.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois A. Barthen of Franklin, PA and Deborah L. McDonald of Bellevue, WA; three grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pockie", Katlyn, Nathan and Connor Barthen of Franklin; his dear friend, Gerri Henning of Erie; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2014 Myrtle St., Monday from Noon until the time of service there at 3 p.m. The Rev. Roy P. Washill of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
