Charles Gilkinson

Charles S. “Chuck” Gilkinson, age 79 of Fairview, passed away August 19, 2017 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Waterford, PA on November 4, 1937, a son of the late Leroy and Bertha (Hess) Gilkinson.

Chuck retired from Ross & Copus Tires after 21 years of service.  He was a longtime member of Fairview United Methodist Church where he served as Head Usher for many years.

Chuck was an amazing and caringfather and grandfather, who left a  mark on everyone’s lives that he touched. H e faithfully read his Bible every day and enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Gilkinson, Jr. and Robert Gilkinson.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 58. years, Mildred “Midge” Weaver Gilkinson; three sons, Charles S. Gilkinson and wife Diane of Meadville, PA, David A. Gilkinson and wife Maria of Cranesville, and Daniel J. Gilkinson of Girard; a daughter, Diana L. Grieshaber and husband Joseph of Millcreek; five grandchildren Douglas, Debra, Danielle, Nathan and Austin and nine great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Charlotte (Alan) Clark of Millcreek; two sisters in law, Marge Gilkinson, of North East and Betty Gilkinson, of NH and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Fairview United Methodist Church, 4601 Avonia Rd. Fairview, PA 16415 on Tuesday, August 22nd from 4:00 until the time of service there at 6:00 pm.  Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Funeral Home 525 Main St. E., Girard, PA 16417.
