Charles E. “Chuck” Kobel, age 70, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was born December 30, 1950 in Erie, PA, a son of the late Charles D. and Mary (Jordano) Kobel. Chuck graduated from Strong Vincent High School before attending Edinboro University.
Chuck loved all motor sports, especially dirt track racing where he took part in building cars from the ground up. He also loved watching hockey, including his grandsons, and was a volunteer for Mercyhurst University men’s ice hockey as an off-ice official.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (Spizarny), his children, Ryan (Jill), and Rachel Kobel-Waha (Russ). Chuck is also survived by his sister Cheryl Kobel (Tammy). He is further survived by his grandchildren, Ryan and Camden Kobel, and Riley, Alexandria, and Kathryn Waha; nieces Krista Wehan (Pat), Carly Rosick (John) and their families, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are invited to call at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 837 Bartlett Rd, Harborcreek, PA 16421, Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. All CDC guidelines, and masks will be followed. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Road, Erie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church 837 Bartlett Rd, Harborcreek, PA 16421.
