Charles Barnes

Charles Leverette Barnes Jr. age 68, of Belle Valley, passed away on Thursday, August 06, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Erie on December 9, 1946 a son of the late Charles L. Barnes Sr. and Jayne Hooper Barnes.

He was a 1965 graduate of Harborcreek High School and then went on to serve in the United States Navy.

Charles worked as an Inspector at General Electric for 37 years.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Eastside YMCA and the CYS Club.

Charles loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and soccer. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sallie A. Schickling Barnes; three daughters, Jennifer and Trevor, Gretchen and Gary II. and Shelly and Khash; six grandchildren, Josiah and Kellyn Prittie, Gary III. and Gus Ryan, and Darian and Felix Azizollahi; two brothers, William Barnes and his wife Violet and Peter Barnes and his wife Connie; a sister, Susan Knight and her husband David; and two sisters in law, Bonnie Edwards and her husband Richard and Brenda Weaver and her husband John. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home 2532 Norcross Road, Erie, PA 16510 on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Piccirilli officiating. Burial to follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
