Celeste Francoise Berlin

Celeste Francoise (Paulhus) Berlin, age 71, of Girard passed away on Sunday February 23, 2025, peacefully in her home surrounded by family following an extended illness. She was born in Woonsocket, RI on November 16, 1953, to the late Clarence and Suzanne (Voyer) Paulhus. 

She graduated from Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Enfield, Connecticut and went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut in Hartford with a bachelor’s degree in Music. Celeste pursued her career in music by teaching the piano to many students for over 50 years. During the course of her teaching, Celeste had worked as a music teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Colorado Springs, CO and later at the Girard United Methodist Church for 10 years as the organist and choir director. She was also a pharmaceutical technician at the Girard Giant Eagle Pharmacy. Celeste enjoyed many things in her life, one of them being a foster parent. She had fostered more than 40 children over the course of 20 years. In addition to fostering, Celeste had a love for reading and knowledge - at least one book a day - cooking, and crocheting. She was most proud of being a Memere. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Claude “Jack” Paulhus (Bonnie).

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Marty J Berlin; a daughter Stephanie (Botelho) Douglas; a son Benjamin Botelho; Stepchildren: Jeremy Berlin (Heidi); Melissa Smith (Rick); Robert Berlin (Naomi); a sister Felice Thompson (Skip); a brother Marc Paulhus; Eight (8) grandchildren; Seven (7) step grandchildren; Three (3) great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Saturday, March 8th at 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Michael DeMartinis celebrant.
