Cecilia Pillar

Cecilia K. Pillar, age 89, of Summit Township, passed away on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by many loved ones.

She was born on May 27, 1925 in Weaver, PA a daughter of the late John and Mary Sivak Mitchell.

Cecilia graduated from Youngsville High School in 1946 and was a dedicated housewife and mother to her daughter and two sons.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church since 1950 and an active member of the Women’s Alter Society. Traveling was a great passion of Cecilia’s; to Europe looking up family members as well as spending time at camp in Pittsfield. She also belonged to Summit Township Senior Center.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas in 2000, a son Charles in 1956; two brothers John and George Mitchell and three sisters Helen, Mary, and Ann.

Survivors include her daughter Robin (Eric) Barthelson ; two sons, Michael (Ruthan) Pillar and Gary Pillar all of Erie, PA. Also surviving are ten Grandchildren Keith (Donna) Alloway, Matthew (Carra) Alloway. Daniel (Kristie) Barthelson, Katie Barthelson, Andrew, Aarika (Steve), Nicole (Adam), Colten, Cassie, and Jennifer (Kevin) Lance; thirteen great grandchildren and three sisters Margie Richir of Erie, PA; Betty Sebring (Jim) of Greensburg, PA; and Julie (Wavil) Woodworth of Hornando, FL. Many nieces and nephews further survive.

The family would especially like to thank her grand daughters Katie, Carra, and Kristie for all of their loving care that they gave their Grandmother.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) Erie, PA on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and are invited to attend a service there on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Don Valasek officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery.
