Catherine Walker

 Catherine Walker, 76, born October 2, 1936 died peacefully on Friday May 31, 2013 at St. Mary’s Home of Erie.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur F. and Cecelia Schneider Cruise of Erie and a brother Patrick A. Cruise of Lakeland, Fl.

     Catherine was affectionately known as “Bootsie” a German endearment named by her grandmother Schneider.

     She was a graduate of Mercyhurst Prep class of 1954 and Mercyhurst University class of 1958 with a B.S. Degree in Education. After graduation she completed her Teacher’s Certification at Allegheny College.

     A dedicated teacher, she loved teaching her fourth grade students at Jefferson Elementary School.

     Catherine was an Educator, Reading Specialist, Artist and award winning gardener.  She belonged to St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community, American Association of University Women, and Miniature Society.

     Survivors include her husband Robert J. Walker; daughter Anne Marie Walker of Norristown, Pa; son Robert A. Walker, wife Kellie, grandsons Kyle and Robby of Clearwater, Fl.; son James A. Walker, wife Rosanne, grandsons Samuel and Harrison, granddaughter Lena Rose of Buckhannon, W.Va.;  sister Barbara Weaver, husband Larry of Erie.

     Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, on Friday from 3 PM until 7 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community, 147 West 24 St., Saturday at 10 AM with Msgr. William Biebel officiating.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1128 State St., Erie, PA 16501or the charity of ones choice.
