Catherine A. Kuneman, age 88, of Millcreek, went home to her Lord on Wednesday August 12, 2015, at Fairview Manor, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 23, 1927 in Corry, PA a daughter of the late Harry and Ethel Boarts Schaub.
Catherine was a class of 1946 graduate of Union City High School and then went to work as a secretary for York- Foster in Union City. Catherine also worked for many years, as a lunchroom cashier for the Millcreek School District, at Montclair and Asbury Schools. She always kept change with her, often paying for children’s lunches, making sure that every child had lunch that day.
A longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Catherine delivered flowers to the sick and shut ins, as well as teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed watching tennis, reading, cooking, and was a Girl Scout Leader.
Above all else, she was always there to help her children and grandchildren. Catherine loved her family and being part of her grandchildren’s lives. She spent many hours babysitting and would drop whatever she was doing to help her family. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Nancy Elizabeth and her beloved dog “Tippy”.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years Raymond Kuneman; two daughters Bonnie Kwitowski and her husband Frank and Sue Williard and her husband Leo all of Erie; five grandchildren Amanda Williard, Landon Williard, Matthew Kwitowski, Kristen Kwitowski and Allison Willard ; and a great-granddaughter Aubrey Louise Eaton. She is further survived by two sisters, Ida Bruce of MI. and Mary Loomis Schaub of Union City; two brothers, John Schaub of FL. and Carl Schaub of OH., many nieces and nephews, and a dear friend Louise Kwitowski.
Family and friends are invited to call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00 pm and are invited to attend the service there Sunday at 4:00 pm with Reverend Scott Maxwell officiating.
Burial will be Monday at 1:00 pm at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
