Casimer F. Boncella, Jr. age 79 of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at St. Mary’s East.
Cas was born in East Vandergrift, PA on September 12, 1936. He was the son of the late Casimer Sr., and Emily (Gaydos) Boncella.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Boncella and a sister, Dolores Manthorne.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lorraine; sons Anthony of Erie, Andrew (Janice) and John (Debbie), both of Millcreek; grandchildren, Adam, Benjamin, Nicholas, Mack and Allison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of East High School, class of 1954. Cas was an “Atomic War Veteran” having served on Eniwetok during “Operation Red Wing” in 1956. Upon his discharge, he was an inspector at LORD Corp. He joined the Erie Police Force and retired after 23years of service. Cas also had many part time jobs and retired from Loomis at the age of 72.
He loved gardening, hunting and picnics with family and friends at “Vickey’s Acre”. The family would like to thank Dr. Candib, the Third Floor Nurses, and the Aides for their compassionate care.
Friends may call at Burton’s Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd. Erie, Pa. 16510 on Thursday from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm and are invited to attend a service there in Burton’s All Faith’s Chapel on Friday at 11:00 am with the Reverend Scott Shuffield officiating.
Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
