Carrie Marsh

September 10, 1918 — July 2, 2013

Carrie "Sweetie" Franklin Marsh age 94 of Erie, died quietly at Sarah Reed Retirement Center on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Born September 10, 1918 in Greenville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Lizzie Morgan Franklin.

Carrie worked at St. Vincent Health Center for 19 years as a Housekeeper until she retired in 1980. She was a faithful member of Greater Bethlehem Temple Church for 61 years where she served in different capacities as Usher, President of the Missionaries, Pastor's Aid, Executive Board, Cleaning Committee and Kitchen Aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Marsh; a son, Joshua Marsh, his wife Millie; and daughter-in-law, Edna Marsh. Five sisters, Tessie Mae Leavitt; Rachael Riley; Marzilla Ball; Martha Purdue; Edith Franklin and Lillie Bell Crenshaw. Five brothers, Bennie Franklin; J.D. Franklin; Cannie Franklin; Ollie Franklin; Milton Franklin and Samuel Franklin.

She is survived by a son, David (Ora) Marsh; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Carrie always had more than enough love for everyone and would stretch out her arms to help anyone. She was always known for saying that there’s no problem bigger than the Red Sea, meaning that no problem was too big for God. She was steadfast and unmoveable in her faith in God and would boldly testify of his goodness and mercy. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends may call at the Greater Bethlehem Temple Church, 4103 Washington Avenue, on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and are invited to attend the Homegoing service there on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
