Carolyn Parker Patton, age 83, of Erie, passed away Thursday December 13, 2018 at Bickford of Presque Isle Bay.
She was born in Erie on February 4, 1935, a daughter of the late Robert Whittingham and Mary Will Kilgore Parker.
Carolyn was a graduate of Erie Day School and a 1953 graduate of St. Vincent High School. She earned her BS and Master’s Degree from Edinboro University. Carolyn was a school reading teacher in the Fairview School District for over 30 years.
Carolyn was a former member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, the Kahkwa Club, Aviation Club, and Erie Club. She was a longtime member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, the Junior League of Erie, and the DAR, She enjoyed volunteering at the Experience Children’s Museum. Carolyn loved spending time with family and friends at the cottage in Findley Lake. She also enjoyed antiquing with her husband
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Franklin S. Patton, Jr. and son Franklin S. Patton, III, both in 2004 and two brothers, Thomas Parker and Robet W. Parker, Jr.
Survivors include three daughters: Darby Patton Scalise and her husband Jay, and Elizabeth Patton Kimmey, both of Erie, and Darcy Patton Matson and her husband Dale of Brunswick, OH and grandchildren, Jason, Douglass, James “Vicky”, Daniel “Valerie” Scalise; David “Stephanie”, Devon Matson; Jaime “Pete” Newcamp, William Dietz; Katherine Patton and Allison Patton. She is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Braeden and Kamryn, five siblings, Roberta Parker Holliday, Mary Douglass Parker Robertson, Julie Whittingham Parker, John Allen Parker and his wife Christine and Jeffrey Christopher Parker and his wife Christina; and a sister-in-law Diane Parker Baughman, of Erie, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) Friday, December 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, December 15th, at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 West 10th St. from 11am until the time of service at 12noon with Rev. Robert Lewis officiating. Private burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
